He then grew up with an unloving mother who was unfriendly to him. Though Patrick is biologically male, he was seen putting on a dress and lipstick. The characters angered the foster family that lived with him (McCabe 3). He found new friends Lawrence, Irwin, and Charlie, who accepted him. Lawrence's father accepted him and told him that he resembled Gaynor, an American movie star.As Patrick grew up, he joined a local school. He got into problems in school when he wrote a controversial fiction. In addition to the fiction, he had controversial characters. In the fiction, he imagined how his parents conceived him because he was a transgender (McCabe 12). He also inquired where he could change his sex. He came out as a transgender where he named himself the Kitten. He also started using the name Patricia.Be ing a lady then, she approached her father Liam confessing. She asked her father about Eirly, her mother. Her father dismissed her. She finally ran away from home. She travelled with a glam rock band and the Mohawks where she teamed up with their leader Billy. Billy put her in a home where she discovered guns that belonged to the Irish Republican Army.Kitten's friend Irwin started to walk with the Irish Republican Army. Kitten disagreed with Irwin's politics (McCabe 28). Lawrence, a close friend of Kitten, died of a bomb that was detonated by police. Kitten dropped a gun into the lake at the incident. Billy abandoned Kitten as he ran away. Kitten played crazy games at the scene to avoid being shot.Kitten continued her journey to London searching for her biological mother. All inquiries about her mother proved fruitless. She got a shelter in a small cottage in a park. She finally realized that the park was the children's entertainment hub (McCabe 33). Kitten, got a job at the park as a singer and dancer. She lost the job immediately after her co-worker punched the sponsor.Kitten underwent challenges until she found a sugar daddy who was a politician. The Irish Republican Army killed the politician leaving Kitten alone (McCabe 38). She became a prostitute when she moved to London.She joined prostitution when she arrived in London. Her first client violently attacked her. She saved herself from the customer by spraying a perfume into his eyes. While she was taking supper in a restaurant, a magician, Bertie Vaughan, found her writing a notebook. The magician asked her what she was writing in the book (McCabe 39). She told him that she was writing a story of "the phantom lady". It is a lady who was swallowed by the big city. Bertie told her that is the woman she was looking. Bertie hired her as his assistant.Bertie and Kitten took a romantic day trip. It is at this time that Kitten explained that she was not a female when Bertie wanted to kiss her. Bertie told her that she already knew that. Charlie took Kitten away when she attended Bertie's show (McCabe 42). They had gone to Charlie's place for some time before she moved to London.Kitten attended a club that was frequently visited by British soldiers. She danced with the soldiers. She got injured when the Irish Republican Army bombed the club. When the police discovered that she was biologically male and an Irish citizen, they arrested and locked her in the cell (McCabe 60).
